Gravas participates in seminar organized by The Somm Journal and National Geographic
“An exploration of renowned Single Vineyards” was the activity in which Isabel Mitarakis, the brand’s winemaker, participated, showcasing the different terroirs of the world through unique and emblematic wines from each country.
In the spirit of continued education for beverage professionals and consumers, The SOMM Journal, in partnership with National Geographic and SommCon, held a series of free webinars in January.
In the seminar “An exploration of renowned Single Vineyards,” Mitarakis, winemaker in charge of the Gravas line, spoke about Puente Alto’s terroir, known for being one of the best terroirs in the world for its red grapes and the origin of our Cabernet Sauvignon within the Gravas line.
He told how its Mediterranean climate contributes to the fruit’s perfect ripening and how the mountain range’s moderating effect compensates for high temperatures during the day, ultimately producing high-quality fruit.
He also talked about its soil, its alluvial origin, stony, low in nutrients, and highly permeable, resulting in expressive wines with body and ripe, balanced tannins.
